I walked slowly towards the broken you, making sure that I didn’t say the wrong things at this crucial moment. Your knees were pulled to your chest; hands were fisting the blankets constantly. A hint of sadness revolved in your eyes as I softened my sight on you and occupied the space beside you. I’ve never seen you tumbling and fall, so emotionally broken. My instinct told me that you felt unsecured, your hard shell had fell into pieces and couldn’t be mended back. The pain sifted through the air when you pour your soft gaze into my direction before bringing your hands together to play with your nails.

“You… you sure you’re marrying him?” I broke the silence.

You took a deep breath and looked up from your nails before forcing a smile that you thought would help me.

“Yes, I’m marrying him.”

No, this is so wrong. I knew that he likes you all along these years. But isn’t the other guy you’re dating far better than him? He… you’re not… It’s a situation where a toad is lusting for a swan’s flesh!

“Why…What happened? Why did you decide to marry him? Isn’t the guy you’re dating far better than him like, a million times? Tell me…” I burst out, surprising you a little. No, perhaps not.

“I have no choice… they… He took my parents,” you replied in a calm tone, contrasting way too much from your personality. “I’ve got to marry him for them.”

Taken aback, I wrapped a hand round your shoulder, pulling you closer into a hug. The room was filled with your sobs, my hand occasionally squeezing your shoulder and muttering of ‘its okay, its okay’s in your ear as you rest and relaxed into my embrace. I couldn’t speak, too overwhelmed by the dramatic situation.

i guess its because of so much passion and so much disagreement that make me lose every hope that i could ever do it and could even excel in it.
when i'm with friends, i could talk about it all day long.
when i'm at home, no word of it shall escape or it will be doomsday.

the home part made me grew sick of the negative side of it and slowly draining the passion away.
the fire is still burning but its weak, very weak.

Its so weak that i lose every single strings attached to it even in front of my friends.

I just can't do it anymore.

I remember pulling Clarissa to the piano during choir camp, promising to play a shit that i've mastered, SJM's Perfection.
and there i sat, purely touching the keys, feeling the smooth surfaces.
there, i can't continue.
i can't play a decent thing.
i didn't even could bring myself to start the song.
I thoroughly lost all my confidence.
it sounds stupid but yes.

before that, we were at Kaiting's house, teaching Rachel the basics of that instrument.
she learnt damn fast, with pretty fingers.

curse that cancer's careful sense of surrounding, i stared at her fingers and then at mine.

*throw everything away*, there's no way i'll be playing the thing nicely.
it can't be brought on such... ugly hands. all rough from housework and all.
i even grew to hate my limbs.

i contemplated to throw my piano away.
that thing fell and cracked when i left it at the dump.
i brought it home again.
there's no one at home.

i laid it on my bed, staring at it before plugging it the the power point.
i switched it on, lower the volume to the minimum and pressed the middle C on echo.

the note repeated, and i just sat there, boring my vision into it.

lonely me asked him,
"Do you still want to be with me?"

i pressed the black keys from left to the other end.
and there, i ended up playing Jay Chou's Ju Hua Tai, the melody, without errors, till the first chorus end.

and i guess, i've got to keep it back with me again.
